Human Resources

People are at the heart of every service we deliver in the council and in HR, it’s our job to make sure that we enable our people to do their best work.

That means guiding managers in their decision-making, creating a positive organisational culture and operating with creativity and drive. We manage change by supporting our people to be as effective as they can be through new ways of working.

With a diverse workforce our HR teams have opportunities to work collaboratively with our managers, tackle complex challenges and support our 3,500 employees.

Organisational Development & Workforce Training

Our team is passionate about developing and supporting our people to ensure they have the skills and capabilities to help meet the needs of the people of Westmorland and Furness.

Working with key stakeholders across a range of internal and external services, our team work collaboratively to understand training needs and deliver effective workforce training and organisational development solutions.

With a focus on continuous learning and development, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on individual careers and organisational effectiveness.

Health & Safety

Our diverse workforce means that working within our Health & Safety team is varied and dynamic.

As a caring council we prioritise the safety, health and wellbeing of our staff, services and residents. Our Corporate Health & Safety team contribute to every stage of our processes, from carrying out audits to identifying issues and working with managers to develop policy.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and accountability. With a focus on prevention and proactive measures, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, employees and visitors.

Meet Alice

Health & Safety Business Partner

"Keeping our staff and services safe is an integral part of being a caring, and compliant council. When the services I support start to understand and pursue this in their own work, that makes me proud to be part of such a proactive service.

My team is really supportive and enables me to get different perspectives and examples of good practice that can positively inform the health and safety practice within the services I support. This is really important as we continue to develop and grow the safety culture of the council."
